Several nursing homes in North Carolina are still without water three weeks after Hurricane Helene.

More than three weeks ago, Hurricane Helene caused power outages and disrupted running water at James Greene's nursing home in Asheville, North Carolina.

As of today, Greene, 84, and his fellow residents at Brooks-Howell Home still lack regular access to safe, running water for their daily needs.

“For two weeks, we've been unable to shower or wash our hands,” Greene wrote in a letter to family and friends, shared with ABC News. “Maintaining hygiene with hand sanitizers has become essential.”
