The Las Vegas Raiders have traded All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets, the team announced on Tuesday.
In return, the Jets will send a conditional third-round draft pick, which can upgrade to a second-round pick if Adams makes the first or second All-Pro team this season or if he is on the active roster for the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl.
According to ESPN, Adams restructured his contract as part of the deal, lowering his salary cap hit to $3.21 million for the remainder of the season, down from $11.59 million. His new contract includes two voidable years, and discussions regarding his long-term future in New York are planned for the offseason.
Adams is expected to make his Jets debut on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury amid trade rumors.
This trade follows a disappointing 23-20 loss for the Jets against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, marking the team's first game since firing head coach Robert Saleh. Despite the presence of interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich and new offensive coordinator Todd Downing, the Jets struggled with costly mistakes. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers highlighted some of these issues, particularly within the receiving corps, during a somber postgame news conference.

Adams reportedly arrived in New Jersey on Monday night to help facilitate the trade, where he was greeted by a familiar face: Aaron Rodgers, his former teammate on the Green Bay Packers. With the Jets' offense facing challenges, the hope is that reuniting Rodgers with one of his most effective partners will help unlock the success the team believes is just within reach.
The duo appeared together Tuesday afternoon on "The Pat McAfee Show," discussing the trade. "We're back, man, we're back," Adams remarked.
This trade concludes Adams' two-plus-season stint with the Raiders. Las Vegas acquired him from the Packers during the 2022 offseason, signing him to a five-year, $140 million contract that included $65.7 million in guaranteed money. The Raiders gave up a first-round and a second-round pick to bring Adams on board, who had become one of the NFL's top receivers during his eight seasons catching passes from Rodgers.
